Grade 4 NAEP scores in Miami-Dade County Public...

Miami-Dade County Public Schools 4th grade NAEP math scores continue to rise after using Reflex for four years.

The success continues to build as Miami-Dade County Public Schools' grade 4 math scores on the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) rose once again in 2017.

Between 2009 and 2013, Miami-Dade’s grade 4 math scores on the NAEP remained relatively unchanged. In 2013, Miami-Dade purchased ExploreLearning Reflex for all its elementary schools.

In 2015, Miami-Dade’s grade 4 math NAEP scores increased by 5 points – opening an 8-point gap over their peer large city districts and closing in on Florida as a whole. Economically disadvantaged students grew even more, scoring 11 points above the large city district average and 9 points higher than economically underprivileged students nationally. Then in 2017, the district went on to gain an additional 3 points over 2015. Unlike large urban districts (which lost 2 points from 2015 to 2017), Miami-Dade further widened the gap to 13 points. Economically disadvantaged students continued to do well with Reflex in 2017, remaining above the state average and outperforming their large district peers by 16 points.

After using Reflex, Miami-Dade student scores went up across all areas, with several scores showing more than a 3-point gain–including Measurement, Properties, and Operations.
