Heather Chambers

Engineering Project Manager

quote start quote end I try to focus on creating space for people to feel seen, heard, and valued.

Describe yourself in 5 adjectives or less.
Empathetic, Dependable, Flexible

What do you really do at EL?
Help coordinate people and their ideas. As a PM, I try to focus on getting teams to collaborate in productive ways. On the DEI Council, I try to focus on creating space for people to feel seen, heard, and valued.

What do you like about working at EL?
The people.

What’s the most seriously fun thing you’ve ever done?
Pranked Dan Moriarty (and Dev) by leaving a trail of rubber ducks on his desk and around the office.

What big STEM accomplishment do you think we’ll see happen in the next 100 years, and why are you excited about it?
I hope blockchain will be more accessible in the next 100 years. It could have a sizable and positive impact in the medical industry. For women, it can be incredibly difficult to find providers who not only understand your symptoms, but also believe them. Healthcare becomes increasingly more complicated when you layer in other demographics. Blockchain could empower patients to track their health over time with their physician(s). The idea that you could securely pass your health information to your provider and/or researchers, could increase the validity of diagnosis, circumvent malpractice, and advance studies for very specific diseases.

How long would you survive a zombie apocalypse? Why?
In theory, a couple of months. In reality, a couple days. I’m not a fighter.

None; The unknown of both options is terrifying

Bill Nye the Science Guy!

Einstein or Newton
None; Marie M. Daly (biochemist) because she was a trailblazer

Star Wars or Star Trek
None; I’ve actually never seen either of these. The only fandom series I indulge in is James Bond with Sean Connery and Roger Moore leading the pack.
