LaTonya Lewis

Order Entry Team Lead

quote start quote end I believe STEM education is important because as the world evolves, we need to as well.

What 3-5 adjectives best describe you?
Fun, outgoing, dedicated, patient.

Briefly describe your job… what do you really do at EL?
I am the Team Lead in Customer Service Order Management. I provide continued training/coaching for permanent and seasonal employees as it relates to order processing. I act as a liaison between departments to gather the latest updates and/or procedural changes.

What do you like about working at EL?
I enjoy the team-oriented environment and the ability to share and share alike. I enjoy that all of this takes place within a company that caters to helping students grow and learn and become more confident, helping teachers deliver information more effectively and avoid unnecessary frustration and helping parents to rest assured in and be proud of the abilities of all parties involved.

What's the most seriously fun thing you've ever done?
That’s a good question. I haven’t done anything major like jumping out of an airplane or scuba diving. The times that I have had the most fun have been enjoying the company of my family (from household to extended family). I have a large family. And we often gather and eat and play games and laugh lots.

Tell us about one of your STEM mentors. Who inspired you, and how?
I would have to say my Dad. While not his professional field of work, he possesses a wealth of knowledge. The knowledge he presents has taught me how to apply those subjects to my life. And that they all make the world go ‘round.

How long would you survive a zombie apocalypse? Why?
I believe I would last a lifetime. I can sustain myself and adapt to my surroundings. I have a keen eye for details and I am always looking ahead to weigh possible outcomes and consequences.

Chemistry or Biology?
Chemistry, just sounds so much more exciting.

Algebra or Geometry?
Algebra, because it makes the other pieces less complicated in my opinion.

Learn a language or learn how to code?
Both, both can carry you far.

Deep space or deep sea?
Definitely deep space. I think the mysteries in space are far more hidden from us than that of deep sea.

Bill Nye or Neil DeGrasse Tyson?
Both, because we need to learn about science but also how to put it into action, make it work for us.

Einstein or Newton?
Both, as they both made major contributions to where we are today.

Star Wars or Star Trek?
Start Trek. Mainly because I used to watch it with my dad as a kid.

Keyboard or Paper + Pencil?
Both, depends on what is being delivered and to whom.

Playlists or Podcasts?
Both, sometimes I need a focal point, but other times I like to be able to shift as I see fit.

In the classroom… Front row or back row?
Front row. I want to be able to lean in soak up the knowledge with minimal distraction.
